Adirondack Youth Orchestra (AYO) was founded in 1985 to establish a forum for talented young musicians to further enhance their music education by performing symphonic music in a regional orchestra. The orchestra provides area youth with the opportunity to:
• Perform literature from the well-known symphonic repertoire
• Study under professional conductors
• Refine individual technique
• Develop and practice professional habits
• Interact with musicians from a variety of schools and backgrounds
• Perform as a team
• Share their talents with area audiences
• Enjoy the social benefits of performing and playing a musical instrument
AYO performs a wide range of historical and contemporary literature by composers such as Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Bizet, Respighi, Copland, Bernstein, Smith, Ford, Strommen, and more!
